Microsoft takes a swing at Google in their new commercial for Office 365. Who wants a mailman who reads your mail and then tries to sell you stuff? Usually, Microsoft does a terrible job with their ads and in their attempts at making fun of competitors, remember those Jerry Seinfeld and Bill Gates ads? However, this one ain't too bad. Two Longs, Two Different Types of Overhangs A few years ago, I spoke here and had Carl Icahn speaking after me, and that didn’t go too well. And then last year, I’m told that I had the worst choices in the whole thing. And so I wondered if I should come back this year, and I realized that the conference gets bigger every year. The news from around the web is that Microsoft made another blunder in their efforts to catch up with Google, Facebook and Apple with the purchase of Skype. And most of the blame is falling on Steve Ballmer - one Yahoo Finance message boarder calling him the 'emBallmer', perhaps as in putting the once powerful Microsoft into the grave with his repeated mistakes as CEO. The purchase of Skype, at 8.5 billion, yes billion, is the biggest purchase Microsoft has made in their history.
