Michael Lewis, author of the recently released “Boomerang: Travels in the New Third World,” discusses the book, which chronicles some of the places hardest hit by the financial crisis in 2008, like Iceland, Greece and Ireland. And Lewis also takes about Meredith Whitney’s municipal bond call. Lewis of course is the author of “Moneyball, and he then talks about the film of the same name, starring Brad Pitt.

His new book is essentially a collection of articles he wrote for Vanity Fair, about the financial crisis mainly in Europe, but he also wrote a piece on California and how some cities are struggling to pay for services and survive.

One piece that I think is in the book but not on the Vanity Fair website is the story about Kyle Bass, who’s betting on a European collapse and bought 20 million nickels for $1 million. He said the metal inside each coin is worth 6.8 cents.
