Dr. Doom, Nouriel Roubini, goes way to far with an analogy, as he compares ‘helicopter’ Ben Bernanke’s attempts to save the economy with the helicopter attack in Afghanistan.

And we get it that he doesn’t like the economy already. He’d better stick with comparing the U.S. economy to a deep ugly swamp and not make comparisons to U.S. Navy Seals dying in a terrible helicopter crash. Come on man. Here’s the Roubini tweet and then Josh Brown rightly questioning his motives and use of the comparison.

@Nouriel Nouriel Roubini

Ben can send the helicopters but the risk-off & fear & double dip & EZ crisis grenades can shoot down, as in Afghanistan – any helicopter

@Nouriel pretty disrespectful analogy, I don’t think our downed marines should be fodder for your newsletters

What I find interesting is how there’s a lot of joy in seeing the U.S economy collapse. It’s like the guy who was posting all of the pictures of stock brokers putting their hands on their faces. Up to a point it becomes useless and defeatist in a way. After all, he just wants a job like everyone else. He realized that the economy collapsing wasn’t good for anyone, even if these pictures were harmless.

For Dr. Doom, he’s made a career out of being the guy who only sees dead people. Sure, we need his view point, and he deserves credit for predicting the housing collapse, but there comes a time when the disaster isn’t good for anyone.
